Drypoint

Feeling bad for not posting anything for a few days because I've been super busy. So to make up for my lack of posts, heres a dry point print from a few weeks ago.

Watercolour

Tried to do a water colour for illustration. Been busy busy with uni work and its slippy outside from the snow, even though we didn't get alot, I want more. Like about 10 foot of it. Heres my watercolour guys. Not very professional but its my first proper attempt. Also not finnished.

Snow, prints, and other hat related things

Been trying to snow here all day, when I first woke up I thought there had been a fire, looked alot like ash floating around.
Also, another cutting mat print i made from the other day. Didn't print too well though due to the paint drying too quickly, need to get myself some of that nice black printing ink. Yummy.
A word of advice also:
A Bird in the hat is worth 2 in the hand

Pinch, punch

Pinch, punch, for the first of the month
Busy,busy, busy uni.
Happy February.

Hoot Hoot

At uni we have a new lecturer whos from the Czec Republic and she showed us some lino prints that shed done a few weeks ago and she was explaining that that lino which she used is proper floor lino but its not available anymore in the UK as the makers have stopped making it and its IMPOSSIBLE to find, so she gets it from Czec where they still have it. Today she braught some in for us to have a look at and a little go of cutting. It was lush. ALOT easier to cut than regular lino used in printing. also it was alot more plasticy and thinner. Juggling my brain sat at my desk I was trying to think what i could use with a similar texture of the lino she had braught in, when it dawned on me when i looked down. CUTTING MAT! So I got my cutters out and began chopping away. Its really good to use, so ill be getting myself a new cutting mat and buying many more rather than spending loads on normal lino which isn't as good. The last one didn't print as good, some proper black printing ink is on the shopping list. Also im going to add more leaves to it. Just thought id blog it as it is for the moment.

A New Image

New image to my blog. Was a bit bored of just the type at the top for my name, so I made up a little illustration for myself to go up top. Forgetting how long it takes to do shading with dots, meant it took alot longer than I thought. Here it is in the early stages:

Also been working a little on one of my uni assignments, did a photoshoot of my friend Jake during the week last week, dressed as Christopher Isherwood from many storys, the one in mind and aim is Goodbye to Berlin. I have made a lino cut from one of these photos but need to actually print it properly in the print workshop with the press and pressing with a book doesn't get as pleasing results.

Now, I wonder whats for tea?

Let's Make a Millionaire

Tonight I have watched 2 Marilyn films from the box set Andrew got me for christmas, Let's Make love and How to Marry a Millionaire. Re-discovering my love for Monroe and loving the lushness and class of the old times. Nothing really has class anymore as much as it did in those days. I just love it.

Land of Lost Lushness

At uni we've been given this online resource thing called The Land of Lost Content which is on our blackboard, not sure if just anyone can lookat it. But its where you can find basically anything ever, from objects to, well, anything really. I've been looking through and its just the best thing ever. I think its my new favorite thing. Here's something nice I found below.

P.S. Oh, also, im currently making a design for the heading of the blog, as I think just the type is very boring and it needs some sprucing up. Its taking forever though, shading with dots is a long job. Oh well, heres something from The Land of Lost Content:
